Black and woman owned business, Cafe con Libros (or coffee with books) is a feminist-oriented coffee shop and bookstore located in Brooklyn, NY. They aim to create a vibrant space where everyone feels welcomed and celebrated, especially the feminist minded; and they’re succeeding in a big way. They also have their own brand of merchandise that includes t-shirts, tote bags, coffee cups and the like, for anyone who wants a souvenir of their visit to one of the hottest spots in town.
Founder Kalima DeSuze wanted a space that wasn’t predominantly male dominated and that represented her black and Latin roots. She brought this together fabulously with the creation of Cafe con Libros, embracing the vibrancy of both cultures with a feminist twist. As an activist and writer, Cafe con Libros was the perfect way for DeSuze to represent all of her passions in one awesome place, and the crowds came running!
